In 2014 through 2015 I will be Artist-in-Residence with NRDC (National Resource Defense Council)
-- one of the nation's largest environmental organizations, and a huge
force for positive change with over 1.4 million members. I am honored to
be the organization's first Artist-in-Residence, and grateful for their
generous grant in support of the residency. It is exciting to see an
organization like NRDC working at the nexus of my passions at the
intersection of art, science & activism. NRDC has already helped
get some exciting projects off the ground with with
environmentally-engaged artists like Maya Lin, Vaughn Bell and the
estate of Gordon Matta-Clark.
During the residency I
will collaborate with conservation scientists, lawyers & activists
working on biodiversity and climate, and travel to on-site conservation
efforts. I hope to use this platform to create
projects that nurture more intimate relationships with the natural
world, raise awareness on the the extinction crisis & (perhaps
literally) plant the seeds for radical change. Please follow my art website at jennykendler.com for news about the upcoming projects and events which will emerge from the residency in the coming year.
(Do
you represent an organization that would like to partner with NRDC
during the residency to host an event, public art project, exhibition
etc? Please contact me through jennykendler.com )
